The official made these remarks during a meeting with Evan Greenberg, Executive Vice President of the Board of Directors of the National Council on US-China Relations.
Wang Yi expressed his appreciation for Greenberg’s efforts to promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation and expressed his hope that the Council and other US figures will contribute to the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of relations between the two nations.
The Chinese official affirmed that the two countries have broad interests and vast room for cooperation, which allows mutual benefit. “China is willing to engage in dialogue and negotiation with the United States to resolve the reasonable concerns of both sides,” he stated.
According to the Xinhua news agency, Greenberg stressed the importance of the ties between the two countries and advocated for both nations to use their experience and wisdom to deepen understanding, expand cooperation, and coexist harmoniously. “The National Council on US-China Relations and I personally will continue to make positive efforts in this direction,” he emphasized.
As Foreign Minister Wang Yi calls for dialogue, Washington has placed more than a dozen Chinese entities, including subsidiaries of the Lenovo Group, on the US Department of Commerce’s export restriction list.
Beijing denounced this and the indiscriminate imposition of illegal unilateral sanctions using national security as a pretext.
According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, this constitutes typical hegemonic behavior, as well as a serious violation of international law and the basic norms of international relations. The spokesperson also rejected Washington’s politicization of trade, economic, scientific-technical, and other issues and warned of countermeasures to defend the rights of affected domestic companies.
