Russia calls negotiations with the US difficult but constructive

Moscow, Mar 25 (Prensa Latina) The talks between Russian and US experts in Riyadh were arduous and difficult, but constructive, stated the head of the Russian delegation, Senator Grigori Karasin.

In Karasin’s opinion, although the positions of Moscow and Washington do not always coincide, they sought ways to collaborate and bring positions closer together, as that opportunity exists.

“Everything was discussed; there was an intense dialogue, not simple, but very useful for us and for the Americans. Many issues were discussed. Of course, not everything was resolved, not everything was agreed upon, but the fact that such a conversation took place, I think, is very timely,” the official stated.

Karasin also did not rule out the possibility that both countries would continue expert-level consultations to address issues related to the Ukrainian conflict, and recalled that the joint statement approved by Russia and the United States is to be published in Riyadh this Tuesday.

On Monday, March 24th, in the Saudi capital, the Russian delegation comprised of Karasin and Russian Federal Security Service advisor Sergey Beseda met with their US counterparts, including White House Security Council official Andrew Peek and State Department representative Michael Anton.
