Pakistan committed to consolidate ties with Azerbaijan

Islamabad, Mar 25 (Prensa Latina) While addressing an inter-ministerial meeting here with a delegation from the Slavic country, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar today reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to strengthen ties with Azerbaijan. At the meeting on proposed investment projects with Azerbaijan, Dar said the two countries are collaborating in various sectors, Radio Pakistan reported.

He also urged accelerating the implementation of initiatives to boost economic growth and development through viable investment projects.

According to Propakistani news media, Azerbaijan has expressed its intention to invest US$ 2 billion in projects in Pakistan, mainly in road infrastructure.

The news outlet cites a meeting of the Standing Committee on Planning of the Senate, in which it was suggested that Azerbaijan’s investment could be used for the M-10 highway if the Islamic Development Bank provides financing for the M-6.

The bank’s fact-finding team visited Pakistan in February and an assessment mission is scheduled for next April, according to the news source.

Relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan are based on a strategic partnership that has evolved significantly in recent years, according to Islamabad.

Both countries are engaged in joint activities in sectors such as economy, defense industry, and logistics and transportation with initiatives aimed at maximizing the economic and commercial potential of both nations.
