Lula meets Japanese Emperor and Empress

Tokyo, Mar 25 (Prensa Latina) Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako welcomed Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and his wife Rosângela to the Imperial Palace today, marking the start of Lula's official visit focused on strengthening bilateral trade.

The visit includes a banquet hosted by the Imperial couple tonight. Tomorrow, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba will meet with Lula to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation.

Lula will also attend a bilateral business forum to explore opportunities and Japan’s potential interest in a free trade agreement with MERCOSUR (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia).

Following his Japan visit, Lula will travel to Vietnam on March 27 for official meetings with high-ranking officials.
