Kill or be killed, premise of Cuban-Colombian film production

Havana, Mar 25 (Prensa Latina) Recovering lost time and surviving a revenge are the synopsis of the drama Tiempo de morir, (Time to Die) (1985), a joint production between Colombia and Cuba that will be screened today in Havana cinemas at the International Meeting of Restored Films.

The film is practically a premiere in Cuba, explained Yanais Gutierrez, programming director of the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinematographic Industries at a press conference.

It will be shown at the Yara cinema, 23 and 12 Charles Chaplin theaters, belonging to the Project 23 circuit, on March 25, 26 and 27, respectively.

The film follows the life of Juan Sayago after his release from prison after serving 18 years for killing Raul Moscote in a duel, according to the Filmaffinity website.

Sayago wants to live again; he is looking for his girlfriend, who got tired of waiting for him, and must face the relentless harassment of Moscote’s children, who are obsessed with revenge.

Directed by Jorge Ali Triana, the film stars Gustavo Angarita, Sebastian Ospina, Jorge Emilio Salazar, Maria Eugenia Davila, Lina Botero, Enrique Almirante, Reynaldo Miravalles, Carlos Barbosa and Monica Silva.

Time to Die joins more than fifty titles to be screened during the International Encounter of Restored Films, of which only 17 are Cuban; Elpidio Valdes and animated shorts from the former Soviet Union will also be shown.

The International Encounter of Restored Cinema, supported by the Colombian Film Heritage Foundation, will run until March 30, with a varied cinematographic and theoretical proposal.
