China accuses US of cyber-attacks and espionage worldwide

Beijing, Mar 25 (Prensa Latina) The Chinese Foreign Ministry today accused the United States of being the main country to use supply chains and telecommunications operators to carry out cyber attacks around the world.

Spokesman Guo Jiakun cited a report published by Chinas Cybersecurity Industry Alliance on espionage activities and cyber attacks by U.S. intelligence agencies against mobile terminals and network operators globally.

The document details how the US government abuses its dominant position in information technologies and global supply chains.

According to the report, the U.S. has been conducting large-scale and long-term malicious activities targeting cell phones and the entire mobile phone industry chain.

Guo expressed Beijing’s serious concern and criticized the U.S. actions outlined in the document.

He added that while Washington accuses others of supply chain security vulnerabilities, especially in the context of 5G, it allows its own large tech companies to install backdoors in communications equipment to facilitate their spying activities.

“We urge the United States to immediately stop these behaviors, especially the use of global supply chains to conduct malicious cyber activities,” he said.

He further called on Washington to take a responsible attitude and offer explanations to the world.

“The United States is the world’s biggest hacking empire and global cyber thief,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry previously stated.
