PRCS warns of crisis in southern Gaza after Israeli offensive

Ramallah, Mar 24 (Prensa Latina) The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and the Gaza Strip authorities warned on Monday of the serious humanitarian situation in the country's southern region after the new ground offensive by the Israeli Army.

The PRCS expressed, in a statement, its deep concern about the fate of its besieged personnel in Rafah, bordering Egypt, and accused the neighboring country’s Armed Forces of refusing any rescue coordination.

Israeli forces surrounded a Red Crescent ambulance on its way to evacuate wounded people in Rafah and the whereabouts of the crew are so far unknown, he underscored.

The Rafah Municipality affirmed that the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood “is being subjected to genocide, with thousands of civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, still trapped under heavy Israeli shelling.”

He stressed that the population in the area lacks all means to escape or send out their distress calls to the world.

The General Directorate of Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip warned of the imminent danger threatening more than 50,000 citizens in the Barakasat area, west of Rafah Governorate, following the start of a siege by the Army.
