China launches Global Language Services Platform

Beijing, Mar 23 (Prensa Latina) China launched on Sunday a Global Language Services Platform, as a handy tool to assist global students and users in overcoming their language needs.

Relevant authorities presented the initiative during the Forum on Foreign Language Education Reform and Development for Higher Education Institutions.

According to official information, its primary objective is to efficiently and effectively meet the needs of both language service providers and consumers, by aligning the needs of key stakeholders in the language service sector, including governments, businesses, universities, research institutes and experts.

It also features three sub-platforms: one dedicated to connecting linguistic talents with specific needs, another focused on integrating educational resources for language training, and a third on linguistic research and preservation.

Liu Peijun, Director of the Language and Text Information Management Department at the Education Ministry, said the platform represents a practical action to support the construction of a national language service system and strengthen education as a pillar of the country’s development.

Yang Wei, president of the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Association, stressed that the initiative will boost the reform and development of foreign language education in China.
