Outlets like The Hindu and The Print emphasized the strong Cuba-Kerala relationship, highlighting discussions led by Kerala’s Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal aimed at strengthening ties across health, sports, youth, higher education, culture, biotechnology, and Ayurveda.
Martínez lauded the meeting as excellent, noting the mutual desire and favorable conditions for advancing bilateral cooperation, prioritizing health. He extended an invitation to the Kerala government to participate in Cuba’s International Health Convention in April, expressing his hope that agreements could be signed during the event, which will draw participants globally.
Martínez also advocated for concrete biotechnology collaborations, including Cuba’s interest in acquiring medicines, raw materials, medical supplies, and equipment, and fostering partnerships between Indian and Cuban companies with Latin American reach.
This meeting built upon prior discussions between Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel in Havana in June 2023.
