A release issued by the press office of the international organization states that celebrations are held at both the FAO headquarters and the Villa Doria Pamphilj park.
A high-level ceremony at the FAO Park, which boasts more than 150 trees and other plants from different regions globally, highlighted the essential connection between forests and food security.
It was the first major event planned for the 80th anniversary of the specialized UN agency, founded on October 16, 1945. It featured FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, who encouraged member countries to protect forests and carry out tree-planting campaigns.
The statement adds that this year’s IDF theme intends to shed light on the crucial connection between forests and food security, emphasizing how forests “contribute to sustainable food production, climate resilience, and biodiversity conservation,” the statement adds.
