The OECS meeting is considered essential to discuss the future of Caribbean countries in several sectors, such as economic development and cooperation, according to the Associates Times website.
In this regard, the Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, also extended his support to the country and added that Dominica is always committed to regional integration and that is why he is proud to join his fellow OECS leaders in welcoming St. Maarten to the family.
He reasoned that this move by St. Maarten will help the countries to negotiate better, trade smarter and strengthen their development.
The island of St. Maarten is an island located in the Caribbean Sea, approximately 150 miles east of the island of Puerto Rico, and is politically divided between France and the Netherlands.
