Government leaders, financial institutions, academics, and specialists from more than 30 countries and regions are exploring new models of South-South cooperation.

The goal of the forum, whose theme is “Gathering Financial Wisdom and Illuminating the South,” is to build a platform for the financial community of the Global South, in which China plays a leading role.

During the forum, successful projects within this collaboration with investments from Chinese financial institutions were unveiled, ranging from infrastructure to food security, public health, and social services.

According to Xinhua news agency, one of the forum’s organizers supported more than 100 Chinese companies in projects in more than 40 countries in the Global South through cross-border guarantees, loans, and secured financing.

Within the framework of the forum, experts emphasize that South-South financial cooperation and connectivity deepen market integration in the Global South, optimize resources, and promote mutual benefits.

Official figures show that over the past 20 years, countries in the Global South have contributed 80 percent of global economic growth and now account for more than 40 percent of the global economy.
