Cuba concludes its day at the India-Latin America Conclave

New Delhi, Mar 20 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Eduardo Martínez will highlight Cuba's advancements in health and biotechnology at the India-Latin America Conclave session, "Health Care Partnerships: Advances in Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Innovation." His presentation will follow Foreign Minister Subrahmanyan Jaishankar's plenary address.

According to diplomatic sources, on Wednesday, the Cuban Deputy Prime Minister met with Jaishankar. Both sides emphasized the importance of the visit in the year marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations, as stated by the Cuban Embassy in India.

The Cuban vice prime minister highlighted India’s initiatives to boost cooperation, especially with countries in the Global South, the source stated, adding that the occasion was an opportune moment to express his gratitude for the donation of €10 million in active pharmaceutical ingredients and $1 million in medicines following Hurricane Rafael in October 2024.

According to the Cuban embassy, the Indian foreign minister highlighted the good state of relations between the two countries and the existing cooperation at both the bilateral and multilateral levels, which he described as historic and ongoing.

During the meeting, various opportunities to strengthening this cooperation for the development of both peoples were discussed, especially in the areas of health, biotechnology, and traditional medicine.

Previously, Martínez spoke in the session dedicated to Cuba and in the plenary at the beginning of the day with a special speech on the challenges facing cooperation between India and Latin American and Caribbean nations. He suggested urgent objectives for cooperation between the two regions in areas such as energy transition and food sustainability.

As the final activity of the day, the Cuban Deputy Prime Minister visited the venue of the Indiasoft event, whose twenty-fifth edition began the day before.
