The warning was issued last night by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement, which indicated that in the last months “an increase in the arbitrary measures of migratory control and in the harassment policies against Venezuelans” was observed.
It mentioned the documentation of cases of arbitrary detentions, deportations without cause, confiscation of goods and documents, as well as discriminatory and humiliating treatment by US authorities.
It also includes “imprisonment without due process and kidnappings in prisons in third countries, in clear violation of human rights”.
The Foreign Ministry recommended those residing or transiting through the United States to “take extreme precautions due to the increase of violent incidents and the implementation of regulations that restrict fundamental rights”, which could compromise their safety and wellbeing.
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of Venezuelan migrants and will continue to denounce any violation of their rights.
