We have already responded to the United States through our official channels, that the foreign workers we have here; whether they are from Cuba, India or Africa are hired in line with Guyana’s rules, Ali said as quoted by the Stabroek News.
“We make sure their contracts and conditions of employment are in line with international and local labor laws and standards,” he said.
We told the United States that if there is any particular information or any specific issue they wish to address we are willing to work with them, the Guyanese dignitary argued.
Ali’s statements constitute a defense of the presence of Cuban medical collaboration in his country. They are made against the backdrop of the threats of the U.S. Government to sanction countries that admit health personnel from Cuba in its scheme of attention to the population in order to improve the quality of life of its citizens.
