Al Arabiya television revealed that Egyptian officials contacted high-ranking officials of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to prepare a meeting on the issue.
According to sources close to the negotiations, quoted by the news outlet, the mediators accelerated contacts “to stop the current Israeli escalation” and “release a number of prisoners in exchange for an immediate cease-fire”.
However, the channel pointed out that the authorities of that country rejected any truce for the time being.
In this sense, the Israeli Foreign Ministry blamed Hamas for the resumption of the fighting by not accepting its proposal to exchange prisoners, an accusation rejected by the Islamist movement, which, in turn, denounced the crimes of the neighboring country.
Netanyahu violated the ceasefire agreement and decided to resume the war to export his internal crisis, the spokesman of the Palestinian group, Abdul Latif al-Qanou, in allusion to the Prime Minister’s problems with the Israeli justice system for corruption, said.
