Damascus denounces Israeli attacks on Syrian territory

Damascus, March 18 (Prensa Latina) The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today strongly condemned the recent Israeli attacks against the southern province of Deraa and considered that such hostile acts represent a direct threat to regional and international security.

We condemn in the strongest terms the air raids against Deraa that occurred on March 17, which resulted in the death of two Syrian citizens and the injury of 19 others, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on its Telegram channel.

It considered this aggressive act to be part of a campaign waged by Israel against the Syrian people and stability in their country.

The Ministry affirmed that Tel Aviv’s continued attacks on Syrian territory not only constitute a violation of international law, but also represent a direct threat to regional and international security.

These deliberate attacks, carried out without any form of deterrence, reveal Israel’s complete disregard for international laws and norms, under pretexts that lack any credibility, the statement said.

It urged the United Nations, the Security Council, and all international organizations to act without delay to end these illegal actions and implement the 1974 Agreement.

The day before, more than thirty Israeli air raids targeted the military residential complex in the city of Izraa and the headquarters of the 175th Military Regiment, in the province of Daraa, about 100 kilometers south of Damascus, the capital.

Last Thursday, the Israeli air force attacked a building in the capital’s suburb of Dummar, causing two injuries and extensive material damage.

On the 11th of this month, fighter jets launched more than 40 air raids against several military units in the southern Syrian provinces of Deraa, Quneitra, and Damascus-Country.

In recent weeks, there has been a notable Israeli escalation in the south of this Levantine nation, with fighter jets attacking several sites while Tel Aviv troops occupied the buffer zone and several strategic sites, including the summit of Mount Hermon.

Recently, satellite images showed the Israeli army establishing seven new military sites in border areas stretching from Mount Hermon, the country’s highest peak at 2,844 meters, to Tel Qudna Hill in the south, near the border triangle linking Syria, Jordan, and Israel.

Syrian interim President Ahmad Al-Shara recently denounced Israeli aggression against his nation’s territory and urged the international community to exert pressure to stop these violations.
