Despite regional instability, the situation in Egypt is good, the president stated during a visit to the Police Academy, according to the Al-Ahram newspaper.
El-Sisi reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening security, stability, and peace in the region. He also highlighted Cairo’s efforts to resolve several ongoing crises peacefully.
Along with Qatar and the United States, Egypt plays a central role in the indirect talks between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which controls Gaza.
Since the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip in October 2023, Egyptian authorities have warned that they will not tolerate the permanent presence of Israeli troops in the enclave, especially in the so-called Philadelphia Axis, a narrow strip of Palestinian land that runs parallel to the border with Egypt.
Relations between Egypt and Israel, which signed a peace treaty in 1979, fell to their lowest level in decades following Israeli operations in the Strip, which killed more than 49,000 Palestinians in 15 months.
Tensions escalated after calls by Israeli leaders to expel the Palestinian population to the Sinai Peninsula, northwest of Egypt, prompting harsh warnings from the Egyptian government.
