Hosted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the meeting is a crucial platform for exchanging point of views on the continental agenda among member states.
In addition to the sector’s ministers, central bank governors discuss essential issues related to Africa’s development.
This year’s theme focuses on advancing the implementation of the Agreement Establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and proposing transformative strategic actions.
Discussions will include institutional frameworks, trade policies and measures to support industrialization and continental economic diversification.
Prior to the ministerial segment, a three-day meeting of the Committee of Experts was held, which also assessed progress towards regional integration and made recommendations, as appropriate, for consideration by COM2025.
