According to the congresswoman, Bolsonaro used a collusive tone in his speech and raised doubts about the suitability of the electoral process. She also said: “The ongoing false and inflammatory rhetoric represents a risk to the democratic order, as it fuels the dissatisfaction of extremist groups that have already, in the pasta, carried out violent acts against democratic institutions.”
The congresswoman claimed that keeping Bolsonaro free represents a serious threat to the guarantee of law and order, especially because the former military officer “persists in spreading unfounded doubts about the 2022 elections.” Such behavior, in addition to fueling acts of violence by his supporters, “weakens institutions and encourages political instability,” she said.
Salabert also demanded that the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office prohibit Bolsonaro from using social media and participating in public events that could serve as a platform for “new anti-democratic incitement.”
Supreme Court Justice Cristiano Zanin scheduled for March 25, the trial of the complaint against the former chief executive and 33 others for involvement in the coup plot three years ago.
The Attorney General’s Office also requested to charge Bolsonaro and seven others accused of the attempted coup after the 2022 elections.
