According to the Permanent Mission of Addis Ababa in Geneva, quoted by Fana Broadcasting Corporate, the talks focused on the finalization of the bilateral agreement on goods and services, a milestone for Ethiopia’s entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Kebebew expressed appreciation for Ottawa’s continued support and underscored the importance of this crucial stage.
He stressed Ethiopia’s readiness to conclude the negotiations on the basis of revised offers in line with WTO guidelines for Least Developed Countries that reflect national development priorities and the interests of member states.
Finally, he urged swift action to finalize and sign the agreement.
Meanwhile, Theodore reiterated Canada’s strong support for Ethiopia’s accession to the WTO and confirmed the completion of the review of the offers submitted by the African nation.
He pledged to provide early feedback and facilitate the negotiation process to ensure a smooth and successful accession.
