The Foreign Minister wrote on social network X that during the meeting they discussed the results achieved by the island in 2024 and the challenges for this year.
“A high level of commitment to the homeland was expressed,” he asserted.
Rodriguez arrived in Burkina Faso on Friday for an official visit to meet with the country’s authorities to strengthen bilateral relations.
He was received by President Ibrahim Traoré, with whom he recalled the historic meetings between Thomas Sankara and the leaders of the Cuban revolution, Fidel and Raúl Castro.
At the memorial dedicated to Sankara, a great friend of the Cuban Revolution, the Foreign Minister met with the “Cuba-Burkina Faso Fraternity” organisations and solidarity activists.
He also met with his counterpart, Jean Marie Traoré, to whom he reiterated the Cuban government’s desire to strengthen relations with Burkina Faso, which will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations in 2025.
Rodriguez began a tour of African countries on 10 March that took him first to South Africa and then Ethiopia before his stop in Ouagadougou, and includes visits to Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal.
