Trade union organizations organize rallies in Argentina

Buenos Aires, Mar 14 (Prensa Latina) The Central Workers of Argentina (CTA) and the Autonomous CTA (CTA-A) are organizing joint rallies on Friday to denounce the Government's policies and the repression against the participants in a mobilization in defense of retirees.

Hundreds of people gathered near Congress to demand the approval of a pension reform, to condem the low pensions that senior citizens receive each month and the severe socioeconomic situation.

The Gendarmerie, the Naval Prefecture, the Federal Police, and the Airport Security Police deployed a strong operation with hydrant trucks, motorized troops, rubber bullets, batons, and tear gas, injuring several citizens, among them an 87-year-old woman and a photographer who remains in critical condition.

Pagina 12 newspaper reported that more than 100 people were arrested.

Like many other organizations, the CTA repudiated the police violence and will accompany the retirees in a protest scheduled for March 19, as they have been doing every Wednesday for months.

Participants in the rallies also demanded the immediate resignation of National Security Minister Patricia Bullrich and reiterated their request to Congress to impeach President Javier Milei.
