In the parliamentary session, which began on Friday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Aftab Sheikh emphasized that lasting peace cannot be achieved without economic stability.
He stressed the importance of addressing the future of Pakistani youth and said that securing their future and meeting their basic needs is vital for national stability.
“Only then will the country move towards sustainable progress,” he added.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sehar Kamran pointed to the urgent need for national unity to address the challenges facing Balochistan and the country at large.
He stated that the situation in Balochistan could only be solved if all political forces put aside their differences and showed unity and solidarity.
The leader pointed out that in the recent address to the joint session of the Parliament, President Asif Ali Zardari called for national cohesion against terrorism.
Kamran expressed his commitment to address the deprivation of marginalized regions, promote development and empower youth through job creation, he said.
He added that economic progress and equitable distribution of resources are essential to eliminate terrorism in all its manifestations.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MP Zartaj Gul urged the government to inform the parliament about the measures being taken to fight terrorism across the country.
