Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum will head the opening ceremony at the National Palace accompanied by Tulia Ackson, president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, and Mexican Senate President Gerardo Fernandez.
Under the slogan “From Mexico to the World: Let’s Mobilize for Gender Parity!,” the meeting will address issues such as parity in parliaments and successful experiences in promoting men’s commitment to gender equality.
The two-day event will present initiatives led by legislators to support gender equality, and testimonies from female leaders on their political experiences, achievements, and obstacles will be heard.
Sheinbaum signed in November 2024 the constitutional decree that establishes substantive equality and protection for women, as well as the eradication of the gender pay gap, as part of the actions conducted during the current administration on this issue.
