India condemns security breach at foreign minister’s London meeting

New Delhi, Mar 6 (Prensa Latina) India denounced the security breach that allowed a protest group, called extremist and separatist, near the place in London where Foreign Minister Subrahmanyan Jaishankar was participating in a debate.

In a note, the Foreign Office rejected the provocative activities and deplored the misuse of democratic freedoms by such elements.

We expect the host government in such cases to fully comply with its diplomatic obligations, the indian source stated.

According to press reports, the demonstrators staged the protest in front of Chatham House in London, where Jaishankar had been speaking at a debate the day before.

As they shouted over loudspeakers, the Indian minister exchanged with guests on topical issues related to the nation’s progress and foreign policy, according to news services.

Despite the protests, Jaishankar continued with his diplomatic engagements and met with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his counterpart David Lammy, among other senior leaders.

In a meeting with UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, the Indian foreign minister discussed key issues, including the flow of talent and joint efforts to counter trafficking and extremism.
