Cambodia’s Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) and Cuba’s Grain Research Institute (IIG) were in charge of its implementation.
CARDI director Lor Bunna, and Cuban Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Milena Caridad Zaldivar, representing IIG director Joel Ribet Molleda, signed the document.
Um Sithol, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) of Cambodia, affirmed that this act consolidates Cuba-Cambodia relations and will assess the suitability of Cambodian short-duration rice seeds for subsequent large-scale cultivation in Cuba.
The Cuban ambassador, in turn, stressed that the MoU is the first document of the emerging cooperation between Cuba and Cambodia in the agricultural sector, as part of the implementation of agreements in this significant sector.
