University of Cuba strengthens AI ties with India

Camagüey, Cuba, Mar 1 (Prensa Latina) The University of Camagüey (UC) took a significant step in the promotion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Cuba by holding an exchange with specialists from India.

The specialists from the island arrived at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing

(C-DAC) in New Delhi, as part of the Responsible AI Certification Course, with Cuba’s commitment to technological innovation and the training of professionals in this strategic field for the future.

The information was disseminated through the official Facebook profile of the UC.

Yailé Caballero Mota, AI expert and member of the World Academy of Sciences, represented the UC in this dialogue.

During the exchange, opportunities were explored to promote joint projects in responsible and safe AI, focused on solving problems in areas such as health, agriculture, energy and industry, priority sectors for the economic and social development of Cuba.

“This exchange will allow, not only research collaboration but also the training of our students in AI certifications at the C-DAC in India, which represents an invaluable opportunity for the scientific and technological advancement of the country,” Caballero Mota stressed.

Representatives from other Cuban institutions also participated in the meeting, such as the Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas (UCLV), CUJAE, the Universidad de Ciencias Informáticas (UCI) and the Universidad de Oriente (UO), demonstrating by this Cuba’s joint effort to venture into the paths of AI as part of its scientific policy.
