Body: UN Secretary General António Guterres stressed the need for “a clear political framework that lays the foundations for reconstruction,” based on international legality, which means that there should be no Israeli military presence in Gaza in the long term.

He also insisted that “the reduction of Gaza’s territory” is unacceptable, an idea suggested by members of the Israeli government, and stressed that Gaza and the West Bank, “including East Jerusalem, must be treated as a single political, economic and administrative entity.”

The UN chief will participate next Tuesday in the extraordinary summit of the Arab League, in Cairo, to address the issue of the reconstruction of Gaza after the war.
