According to a statement released on Friday by the so-called Joint Forces of the Armed Struggle, the convoy carrying aid for the RSF was attacked southeast of Al Fasher while it was moving through the area of Al Bayda.
The note also emphasizes that the convoy was carrying a considerable amount of ammunition and war materials, including 10,000 forty milimeters artillery shells, 12,000 howitzer shells, as well as rockets and bombs.
In the confrontation, the statement adds, a large number of casualties were also caused to the paramilitaries.
During the last weeks, the army made progress in its offensive in the region of the capital, Khartoum, where, according to military reports, they are very close to total control.
Since mid-April 2023, this African nation has been plunged into an internal war, after the contradictions over power issues between the Army chief Abdel Fatah al-Burhan and the leader of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, have flared up.
The conflict is keeping more than 11 million Sudanese from their homes, in what experts consider the world’s largest displacement crisis.
