Spokesman of the Pueblo Unido por la Vida alliance, Saúl Méndez, general secretary of the construction workers union, indicated that they will remain in the streets until the initiative promoted by the Government is repealed.
For Méndez, the Executive intends to steal the funds of the CSS and hand them over to the banks and private pension administration companies.
According to the union leader, the Executive is even pressuring the deputies to sanction in an accelerated manner a norm which raises the retirement age and stimulates the system of individual accounts, instead of the solidarity system proposed by the popular movement.
In this sense, he announced permanent mobilizations in the vicinity of Congress to reject the attitude of the deputies, most of whom respond to the interests of the corrupt oligarchy, the Government and the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino.
He also warned that they will expand the pressure measures in the face of other projects such as the opening of the Donoso copper mine (Colón) against the will of the sovereign expressed in the streets at the end of 2023, and of a ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice which declared unconstitutional the contract signed between the State and the subsidiary of the Canadian transnational First Quantum.
