In its 2024 annual report entitled “Resilience and Challenge,” the agency noted that the neighboring country’s Armed Forces dropped more than 100,000 tons of explosives on the coastal enclave, which is home to 2.3 million people.
The aggression destroyed, during that period, 684 water wells, including 365 for drinking water, which aggravated the water crisis in the Strip, the EQA underscored.
Also included are the damages to almost 15,700 hectares of agricultural land and the collection of more than 45 million tons of rubble and waste in that territory, it stressed.
The agency warned that this situation has led to high environmental contamination rates and the spread of diseases.
The UN estimates that more than 53 billion dollars will be needed to rebuild Gaza, a process that could take years.
