India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will hold talks with Von der Leyen and her accompanying delegation.
The 2nd ministerial meeting of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) and bilateral ministerial meetings between European Commissioners and their Indian counterparts will also be held during the visit, the source added.
The MEA stated that this is Ursula von der Leyen’s third visit to India, and recalled that she visited this country in April 2022, and to attend the Group of 20 (G20) Leaders’ Summit held in September 2023.
The MEA indicated that Modi and Von der Leyen have also held regular bilateral meetings on the sidelines of multilateral meetings.
It underscored that this is the first-ever visit of the EU College of Commissioners to India and the first such visits since the start of the current European Commission’s mandate in December 2024 after the European parliamentary elections held in June 2024.
