Syria is wounded and expects its children to unite and work hard to heal its wounds, the president said in a brief speech delivered at the opening of the National Dialogue Conference.
He considered that Syria is indivisible and its strength lies in its unity and stability.
Civil peace is a responsibility shared by all citizens of the country and any suspicious call to create sectarian divisions will not succeed, by virtue of the Syrians’s conscience, said Al-Shara.
On the other hand, he explained that each country needs a system of government compatible with its history and culture, and called on the participants in the dialogue to agree on a system that adapts to the Syrian reality.
The reconstruction of the state requires strategic and emergency plans, and it is necessary to transform the disasters that the country has gone through into real investment opportunities, he said.
In turn, Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Sheibani noted at the event that Syria faces great challenges and the country’s new administration will not accept any violation of sovereignty and independence.
Syria is an integral part of its environment, and is ready to develop solid relations with countries that respect its sovereignty, and will not close the door to dialogue with any country that seeks to build relations based on mutual respect, he said.
The National Dialogue Conference in Syria is being attended by approximately 550 representatives from different walks of life and from all provinces.
The meeting will focus on issues such as transitional justice, constitutional construction, institutional reform, personal freedoms, civil society organizations and the principles of the economic system.
