We welcome the EU’s initiative to suspend some sanctions and this step eases the suffering of the Syrian people, the Prime Minister wrote on his account on X social media.
He added that for the past two months, Syrian officials have been holding talks and making diplomatic efforts to alleviate these unjust sanctions that affect the people.
On the same issue, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in which it called for suspending the coercive measures in full and not partially and considered that the measures hinder the country’s recovery.
The Brussels decision constitutes a positive development in alleviating the economic suffering of the Syrian people and evidences progress towards constructive engagement between Syria and the international community, the Foreign Ministry said.
It reiterated the Syrian government’s commitment to work with all countries seeking to achieve economic stability and development away from collective sanctions and politically motivated restrictions.
