In a message on X Rodríguez pointed out that this measure represents another unjustified aggression against the people of Cuba, in just a few days.
“Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State of the North American country, once again puts his personal agenda ahead of interests. The suspension of visas related to international medical cooperation agreements with Cuba is the seventh measure of unjustified aggression against our population in a month,” the foreign minister wrote.
He added that the decision was made on the “basis of falsehoods and coercion, and is intended to affect the health services of millions in Cuba and the world, to benefit special interest groups for which Rubio does guarantee the squandering of US taxpayer funds.”
On Tuesday, the United States expanded visa restrictions for people linked to Cuba’s medical missions abroad.
According to an official statement from the Department of State, this measure also affects the immediate family of these individuals.
Last week, the Cuban Government repudiated that Washington had suspended “the application mechanism for a group of visa categories used for State officials and their dependencies,” rejecting “dozens of passports.”
