The Cuban Foreign Ministry also expressed its interest in strengthening ties with Japan.

Recently, Japanese Ambassador to Cuba Nakamura Kazuhito presented the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun to Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas, as a sign of the existing relations between both countries.

The dynamics of economic and political relations between both States were consolidated after World War II, although they acquired official status with the signing of a bilateral agreement in December 1929.
