During a meeting here with Republican Congressman Darrell Issa, the head of government considered that there is no military or security justification for the Israeli presence on Lebanese soil.
In the presence of the US ambassador in Beirut, Lisa Jhonson, the leader of the Executive emphasized that the Israeli presence on national soil constitutes a continuous violation of the cease-fire agreements.
In turn, it represents a transgression of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, international law and a violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty.
On Tuesday at the conclusion of the deadline for their withdrawal from southern Lebanon, Israeli forces left the towns of Yaroun, Maroun al-Ras, Blida, Mays al-Jabal, Houla, Markaba, Odaisseh, Kfar Kila and al-Wazzani, but maintained their presence at five strategic locations along the border.
