This program corresponds to the request for project classification and environmental feasibility of location, and was presented to the National Directorate of Quality and Environmental Assessment as part of the procedures to obtain the Prior Environmental Authorization (AAP) for the construction of the plant, which will have inverters, transformation centers and three substations.
The initiative was created at the proposal of HIF Global, the company that plans to install a green hydrogen and synthetic fuel plant in Paysandú (in the west of the country). The objective of the power station is to generate electricity to supply energy to the hydrogen and synthetic fuel production plant.
According to the company, the park will have a maximum power of 1,162 megawatts peak (MWp). The high-voltage line will be approximately 110 kilometers long, involving a total of 245 leased and self-supporting towers.
HIF Global said construction work will take about 18 months “at most” and specified that during peak construction work it will require about 400 direct workers and 50 indirect ones. When the plant is operational, he said, it will require between eight and 12 direct workers and between four and six indirect.
