Emirati government rejects U.S.-Israeli plan for Gaza

Abu Dhabi, Feb 19 (Prensa Latina) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) today rejected the proposal of the United States and Israel for a forced displacement of the population of the Gaza Strip, and defended the reconstruction of the Palestinian enclave, according to local media.

Based on the official news agency WAN, in his meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Emirati President Mohamed bin Zayed reaffirmed his government’s position of rejecting any attempt to displace the Palestinian people from their land.

Rubio arrived in UAE from Israel, and the meeting took place as part of his tour this week to several countries in the region.

Bin Zayed also stressed the importance of linking the reconstruction of Gaza to a path leading to a comprehensive and lasting peace based on the two-state solution as the only way to ensure stability in the region, the report added.

The Arab community, and much of the international community, considers Washington and Tel Aviv’s project as an act of ethnic cleansing, considered by international law as a crime against humanity, and liable to be considered a crime of genocide.
