Cuban president meets with representatives of Diplomatic Corps

Havana, Feb 19 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Díaz-Canel met with more than 1,000 representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Cuba, the Presidency informed on Wednesday.

According to the Presidency’s website, the head of State thanked the diplomats for their solidarity with his nation and acknowledged the work they do to strengthen bilateral relations.

At the meeting, held at the Palace of the Revolution, the headquarters of the executive, Díaz-Canel reiterated the Cuban Government’s support for the exercise of their functions.

The president described the meeting as a “space for dialogue, for exchange, which contributes to the strengthening of relations with each of the countries,” the source indicated.

“We defend multilateralism, mutual respect, friendship and solidarity among peoples and governments, non-interference in the internal affairs of any country, and respect for self-determination,” the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) noted.

Also present at the ceremony were the president of the National People’s Power Assembly (Parliament), Esteban Lazo; Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, Vice President Salvador Valdés, and other political and government officials.

According to the Center for International Policy Research, Cuba maintains diplomatic and consular relations with 195 States, 114 foreign missions and eight representations of international organizations.
