The FEI, presided by Wilman Sarango, published a statement in which they highlight the 10 years of the government of former president Rafael Correa as a milestone that marked a before and after in national history.
In addition, they affirm that oligarchic groups, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) allocated millionaire resources to discredit leftist leaders, such as Correa.
The FEI message alludes to the Minimum Programmatic Agreement for the Unity of the Left and Progressivism of Ecuador, reached in 2024 as a milestone for the unity of left-wing movements in the country.
They also mention that the votes achieved on February 9 by both Gonzalez and the president of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador, Leonidas Iza, who ran for Pachakutik and came in third place, are a sign of the “will for change” of the Ecuadorian people.
In response to the statement, the CR representative stated in her X account that she received “with gratitude their support in this shared struggle.
