Díaz-Canel noted on X that during the meeting they agreed to continue to strengthen relations between both parliaments.
“We also talked about his book “Río Quemado,” in honor of his father, which he presented at the International Book Fair in Havana,” he added.
According to a report from the Presidency of the Republic, the president underscored the importance of strengthening relations in the legislative field, from where many other alliances can be supported.
“The parliamentary sphere is an important component of relations between our countries, together with those of the Government and the Party,” the Cuban head of State pointed out.
After the meeting with Díaz-Canel, Rodriguez told reporters that “it is always a great pleasure and a reason for joy to be in the homeland of José Martí, in the homeland of Fidel, of Raúl, visiting close brothers of the people of Venezuela and close brothers of the Venezuelan Revolution.”
Regarding his agenda in Cuba, he explained that it included an official visit to the headquarters of the National People’s Power Assembly and a meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Esteban Lazo, with whom he signed a Cooperation Agreement between both parliaments to accentuate their closeness.
He also referred to his meeting with the head of State, at which they spoke “as governments and brother peoples talk; we advanced in all the processes of cooperation and alliance of our peoples; we talked about the development of ALBA; and how to confront the brutal blockade endured by nations such as Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba.”
The Venezuelan parliamentary leader pointed out that he extended an invitation to Esteban Lazo to come to his country on an official visit, while expressing his desire that the work of both legislative bodies contribute to the process of integration of the peoples.
