According to a study, the hardest hit body was the Palestinian Football Association (PFA), which had more than 250 fatalities during the 15 months of attacks.

The research detailed that the highest percentage of fatalities was recorded in the six to 20 age group, with a total of 169, followed by the 30 to 40 age group with 121.

As for sports facilities, 265,184 were completely demolished and 81 damaged.

The figure includes 23 large stadiums, 25 indoor multi-purpose sports halls, 58 club headquarters and 12 centers affiliated to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

Among the damaged or destroyed facilities are three swimming pools, 15 basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, in addition to Gaza’s only athletics track, 49 gymnasiums, nine horse stables, 40 indoor soccer fields and 19 sports education centers, it stressed.

In June last year, both the POC and the PFA called for Israel’s exclusion from the Paris 2024 games because of the crimes committed in the occupied territories.

In this regard, they sent a letter to the heads of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, and FIFA, Gianni Infantino.

Allowing teams from that nation to participate in international soccer tournaments in these circumstances would undermine FIFA’s basic objectives and the principles of human rights and non-discrimination, the text stated.
