Hezbollah called on the government to fully assume its responsibilities in protecting peaceful protesters and the right to express their positions and demands.
In the statement, it reiterated that the popular sit-in organized yesterday by Hezbollah was a peaceful movement and a civilized expression of public opposition to the unjust submission to foreign dictates.
Incidentally, it called on the army command to open an urgent investigation into the attack on the protesters and take appropriate measures to preserve the role of the military institution in safeguarding stability and civil peace.
The Resistance detailed that the Lebanese were surprised when some members of the army fired tear gas at them in an unprovoked attack on peaceful citizens, which appeared to be a suspicious attempt to drag the military into a confrontation with its own people.
In the same line of message, Hezbollah condemned the incident that occurred on Friday near Beirut airport against the United Nations Interim Force (Unifil) and reaffirmed the rejection of any attack against them, as well as damage to public and private property. In this regard, the head of the Hezbollah Coordination and Liaison Unit, Wafiq Safa, denied any connection of the movement with the attack on Unifil.
