Ahmed held talks with the heads of State of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, and Burundi, Évariste Ndayishimiye, on common concerns and explored opportunities for the continent, reaffirming their respective countries’ commitment to greater cooperation.
He also exchanged views with Somali President Sheikh Mahmoud. “A renewed partnership requires constant cultivation,” the Ethiopian head of government stressed on his X social network account.
The day before, Ahmed met with the presidents of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo; Botswana, Duma Boko; South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa; Rwanda, Paul Kagama; and Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, reaffirming the collective commitment to deeper cooperation.
The African leader also met with the executive directors of the Global Fund, Peter Sands, and the Vaccine Alliance, Sania Nishtar, to strengthen the resilience of Ethiopia’s health sector.
He also received the presidents of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, and the International Fund for Agricultural Development, Alvaro Lario, to discuss boosting the country’s agricultural sector.
“We hope to build on these discussions to achieve shared prosperity,” Ahmed stressed.
The 38th ordinary session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union will conclude this Sunday.
