The Egyptian presidency informed in two statements that the president met this Sunday to discuss the situation in the region with the head of the World Jewish Congress, Ronald Lauder, and with the Crown Prince of Jordan, Hussein bin Abdullah II.
During the first meeting, Cairo’s efforts to implement the truce in Gaza between Hamas and Israel, which includes prisoner exchanges and increased humanitarian aid inflows, were discussed.
El-Sisi stressed the importance of maintaining the truce and warned that the continuation of the war will affect all parties.
He also advocated the establishment of a Palestinian state with the pre-1967 war borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also stressed the importance of rebuilding the coastal enclave without displacing the population, as announced by Trump, who proposed sending them to other countries, a move widely criticized in the Middle East.
During his dialogue with the Jordanian Crown Prince, both parties agreed to rehabilitate Gaza, devastated after 15 months of Israeli attacks, which caused more than 48,000 deaths and 111,000 wounded.
