According to the President’s Office, the Colombian president made important advances in trade, tourism, artificial intelligence and integration with Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
With the Qatari emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the head of state signed an agreement for the opening of a new commercial air route of Qatar Airways Bogota-Doha from June this year, with the aim of strengthening tourism and business opportunities between the two countries.
The two governments also announced new cooperation agreements in key sectors such as potable water for the department of Magdalena, in the north of the South American country, air connectivity and education.
Likewise, regarding the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), an agreement was signed between Colombia and the G42 Group of the United Arab Emirates to build three data centers in the northern city of Santa Marta that will allow the promotion of a sovereign data cloud in the Caribbean region.
This agreement provides for the training of human talent and the development of applications and cloud services in the field of artificial intelligence.
During his official visit to Dubai, where he began his tour of Arab countries, President Petro participated in the World Government Summit 2025.
During his participation in the event, Petro acknowledged the benefits of AI, but also warned about the dangers of this technology, especially in the labor field.
