In his usual weekly press conference, the president said that yesterday about 119 irregular migrants arrived aboard a US Air Force aircraft at Howard airport, on the outskirts of the capital, and are staying at a hotel in the locality.
Yesterday (Wednesday) a flight with 119 people of the most diverse nationalities in the world arrived on a U.S. Air Force flight at Howard airport (west of the capital).
They come from the United States, making a bridge with Panama, he stated.
The deportees will then be sent to the community of Lajas Blancas, in the Darien jungle, he added, and from there they will be transported to their countries of origin, an operation financed by the United States.
A few days after the visit of the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, in Panama, where one of the main topics of the conversations was the regulated and safe irregular migration, Mulino added that there are still two more flights to go -a total of 360 people- which are part of the agreements signed between both parties.
Asked about the nationalities of the illegal travelers, he said that they are diverse, but among them he mentioned Chinese, Uzbeks and Pakistanis, without offering more details.
On another subject, Mulino explained that, together with Costa Rica, they are organizing actions to face the so-called reverse flow of irregular migrants, many of them Venezuelans, but since they do not have relations with Caracas, they plan to house them in the community of Lajas Blancas, in Darien, and from there transfer them to Cucuta, on the Colombian border with Venezuela.
