New Delhi, Feb 13 (Prensa Latina) The launch of the book "Mad about Cuba, a Malayali Revisits the Revolution," by Indian journalist Ullekh N.P., became a new call for solidarity with the Cuban people, victims of the aggressiveness of the United States government, on Thursday.

The meeting was prestigeously attended by the head of the Department of International Relations of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), M.A. Baby; and the member of the Rajya Sabha (upper house) of Parliament from the Communist Party of India (CPI), John Brittas, who visited Cuba in 2023 as part of a delegation of the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan.

Both, together with the president of the All India Democratic Women’s Association, Subhasini Ali, who recently returned from Havana after participating in the event For the Balance of the World, shared their personal stories on the Caribbean nation.

They agreed on their vision of a Cuban Revolution that remains strong despite the illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade by the United States.

Before Venezuelan Ambassador to India Capaya Rodríguez, members of the Cuban diplomatic mission and other personalities, the speakers highlighted the importance of the book “Mad about Cuba, a Malayali Revisits the Revolution,” as it is a sharp vision of the Caribbean island through interviews with Cubans from various social sectors.

They underlined the resilience of the Cuban people who fight bravely to maintain their independence, without losing their nobility, warmth and humanism that characterized National Hero José Martí; the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro; and Guerrilla Commander Ernesto Che Guevara.

These principles also define Raúl Castro and President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Baby said in his speech at the meeting, which aroused great interest, the achievements made by Cubans in more than 65 years of Revolution, such as the development of free health and education, sports, biotechnology, with high standards of excellence, were extolled.

The speakers recounted the historic ties of 65 years, completed in 2025, between both countries and a celebration of the beautiful connection that exists between Cuba and Kerala, the southern Indian state, led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Likewise, the Indian journalist, author of the book, took the opportunity to call for the reinforcement of solidarity with Cuba and to visit it to learn about a history of struggle for sovereignty of more than 65 years.
